TASK
To create an artistic one-bedroom apartment. To unfold the full potential of such a complex space as every mansard is.
THE CONCEPT
When designing this apartment, we started with its interior architecture, which imposed certain restrictions, but also offered creative possibilities. Given the fact that the apartment is located in an old building, but it still must meet all the demands of a contemporary life, we tended to demonstrate stylistically the mix between old and new, contemporary and historical. So we opted for minimalist volumes and modern furniture combined with authentic antique elements, such as old brick walls, an old stove, old wooden beams on the ceiling, old pieces of furniture, a retro bathtub, and an old barn door. We played with the textures, mixing the monolithic ones with the active ones, such as the red brick, the brass texture, and the mosaic on the bathroom floor. We’ve bravely used color spots to make the interior more vibrant: the red stone on the kitchen backsplash, the green stove, the yellow armchair, the mustard bed and, of course, a little art.
We set out to create a spacious and welcoming space, based on the technical possibilities, which could easily host a group of friends for all kinds of activities.
As soon as you enter the apartment you find yourself in an eclectic, artistic and spacious living area - an open-space flooded with light. The kitchen area is visually delimited from the living room through the beautiful bar counter, which is one of the accents of this space. Also here, in the kitchen, we have access to a small but elegant balcony. On the other side of the apartment is the private area, consisting of a bathroom, a technical room and a bedroom with a splendid spacious terrace.
